Meeting with World Vision

Prior to beginning our work in the field we met with World Vision Kenya, our partner NGO (non-governmental organization, also called a non-profit organization), for a briefing on the project. Because our Intel Education Service Corps (IESC) assignment is a follow up to the previous five World Vision Spark a Child’s Digital Future IESC Kenya deployments, we were able to see the impact the program is having on the various communities. It was wonderful to hear that student absenteeism has dropped in schools where the Intel Classmate PC has been introduced. The Spark program is now considered to be a successful model for deploying technology into classrooms and can be used to scale more broadly across the country and beyond. And now we are ready to travel to our first group of schools!
